Club Badge Program

Volleyball Nova Scotia’s Club Badge Program rewards the outstanding contributions clubs make to the development of volleyball in Canada. It is a voluntary program which recognizes clubs that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to:

​Club Badges will be displayed on the VNS Youth Clubs page as well as on each successful club's website and social media platforms.  

The ultimate objective of this program is to strengthen the club system by rewarding, recognizing and enticing clubs to increase their capacity and better serve the volleyball community.

To earn Club Badge, a club must fulfill all of the criteria associated with each badge.

 

  • Head Coaches are "Trained"
  • Assistant Coaches have completed Making Headway, Foundations of Volleyball, and Safe Sport e-learning modules
  • Club has a Coaching Manager
  • Head Coaches earn 2 PD 

  • The club has registered as a Not-For-Profit
  • The club hosted an Annual General Meeting 
  • The club has two signing authorities
  • The club posts its financial statement or balance sheet
  • The club has a Code of Conduct
  • The club has a Discipline and Complaints Policy

  • The club has taken the Responsible Coaching Movement - Pledge
  • All coaches have taken the Safe Sport E-learning module by Jan 31
  • All coaches have Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen by Jan 31 
  • A link to the VNS Safe Sport page is available on the club's website or social media profile  

  • The club delivers at least one Smashball or Elementary Volleyball grassroots program (ages 6-12) between September 1 and Aug 31  
  • Program leader has completed the Elementary Leader online module
  • Program leader has attended a virtual or in-person VNS Train the Trainer session
 

  • The club adheres to Volleyball Canada's Long Term Athlete Development training hours to competition hours ratio for each age group
  • The club exceeds a minimum amount of training hours for each team - 13-16 y/o = 80 hours and 17-18 y/o = 95 hours (from Jan 1 to May 31)
  • All club athletes receive 10 - 1 hour strength and conditioning sessions
  • All club athletes receive 1 hour of mental performance and 1 hour of nutritional support

Badges are awarded based on the club's previous year of work. Applications for badges will be accepted annually between September 1 and October 15 with badges being awarded on November 15, 2022.
