Volleyball Community Mourns Loss

2016-05-30

Volleyball Nova Scotia would like to offer our condolences as we are deeply saddened by the tragedy that took the life of a dear member of our volleyball community.

Renée Gaudet passed away suddenly May 23, 2016. She was loyal, dependable and proud of her Acadian roots. Her love of sports started at a young age and continued into adulthood. Renée excelled at volleyball, playing for and then coaching the girls' team at St. Pat's High School.

Renée was an active member of the adult volleyball community, playing in several indoor and beach volleyball leagues through the year. She cultivated many friendships and made an impact on everyone she met. She was blessed with a tight circle of friends whom she loved and considered family. She loved to laugh, had a natural wit and a beautiful smile. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 p.m. Monday, May 30, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral will take place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 31, in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 6476 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where a reception will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Renée's Fund c/o any local RBC in support of her two children, the IWK Health Centre Foundation, Jumpstart. On-line condolences may be made by visiting the Halifax chapel at: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
